Appraisal Business Expected to Grow – Thank You, Federal Reserve!
While we are on the subject of Thanksgiving, let’s also give thanks to the Federal Reserve and Treasury for their new $800 billion program to revive consumer lending. This includes everything from residential mortgages to student loans. The plan, slated to launch by the close of 2008, will involve the Federal Reserve's purchase of up to $600 billion in mortgage-related debt as well as a $200 billion joint Fed/Treasury program that will lend against securities underpinned by car and student loans, credit card lending and small-business loans. Analysts say the move could drive down home buyer borrowing costs by as much as a full percentage point, massaging the economy by allowing some borrowers to save money by refinancing their mortgages and helping others to make a home purchase. Immediately after the announcement, 30-year fixed rate mortgages fell by almost a full percentage point to 5.5. This was the biggest drop in seven years. Thank you, Federal Reserve!

Fannie Mae’s New Market Conditions Summary Form
The Market Conditions Addendum form will be required on all 1004MC appraisals completed on or after 4/1/2009. Make sure your ClickFORMS Maintenance is up to date. Otherwise, you will have to pay the regular upgrade price to get the new form. The new addendum is intended to expand the Neighborhood Market Analysis section with additional information about sales and listing trends.
